The Board of Directors of the OK MOZART International Festival is announcing the appointment of Shane Jewell as its new executive director. Jewell was selected from a field of some 75 applicants from throughout the nation. “We scrutinized a lot of resumes and talked to a lot of talented, eager applicants,” noted Charlie Daniels, OKM Board President. “The professional experience and personal persona Shane possesses convinced us he is the person we need as an Executive Director.
“His background is filled with qualities that are critically important to an organization that this year celebrated its 25th anniversary. We were looking for someone with the capability to continue the Festival’s success and lead the organization forward, and we found all that in him.”
Jewell is a graduate of Oklahoma State university with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English with emphasis in film studies. For the past seven years he has been working for Celebrity Attractions as Company Manager, Technical Director and Advertising Director for various national touring companies, handling marketing, coordinating venues, contracts, technical requirements and advertising for such productions as Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Super Star in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Little Rock, Arkansas.
As Company Manager for The Rock & The Rabbi, he also managed budgeting, compiled projections for upcoming tours, supervised and instructed local crews and created lighting schemes for each new venue from the show’s Off-Broadway production to others in Florida and Colorado.
Jewell is also co-founder and marketing director for the Big Wheels Charity Race in Tulsa whose proceeds for the past two years have gone to a local cancer benefit group.
“I am delighted to bring my family to Bartlesville and am honored to follow in the footsteps of my predecessor, Scott Black, in striving to continue growth of the OK MOZART Festival. As an Oklahoma native I am committed to expanding the arts in our state and am humbled to be allowed to do that with such a prestigious organization,” said Jewell.
